Fan of orient seal stones? Here is a brief Introduction to Cost-Effective and High-Quality Seal Stones
1. Qingtian Stone
Qingtian Stone is one of the four traditional Chinese seal stones, belonging to the talc category. It is produced in Qingtian County, southern Zhejiang Province. Qingtian County is often described as "nine parts mountains, half a part water, and half a part farmland." The towns of Shangkou, Fangshan, Zhoucun, and Tanggu within the county are all known for producing this metamorphic rock formed by volcanic effusion. For example, Fengmenqing, Dianɡuodong, and Huangjinyao from Shangkou Town are all top-quality seal stones.

2. Changhua Stone
Changhua Stone originates from Changhua Town, Lin'an, Zhejiang Province. It has a greasy luster and ranges from semi-transparent to opaque, with colors that can be yellow, black, or a combination of both. There are many varieties, most of which have subdued colors and are characterized by their toughness and rough texture, with noticeable white powdery spots in clusters. By color, they are divided into Bai Dong (transparent, also known as Fish Brain Dong), Tian Huang Dong, Tao Hua Dong, Niu Jiao Dong, Sha Dong, and Oufen Dong, all of which are high-quality varieties. Pure-colored stones without impurities are rare and valuable. They have a fine texture, are tough and rough to the knife, and contain few sand particles and impurities.

3. Laos Stone
Laos Stone is a type of seal carving stone. It is a newly discovered stone variety in Laos in recent years and was initially known as Vietnamese Stone. It is more affordable than Shoushan Stone. Thanks to its low price and vibrant colors that rival those of Shoushan Stone, it has gained popularity among Shoushan Stone practitioners and enthusiasts. In an era when Shoushan Stone resources are becoming increasingly scarce, Laos Stone serves as a substitute to fill the market gap.
